JOHN VEECH ⎯ CEO
John Veech joins Sustainability Partners as Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors. John has been a Trustee of Sustainability Partners since September 2022.
Most recently, John has served as Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Marathon Capital Partners, a sustainability-driven infrastructure investing platform. Prior to joining Marathon, John spent the majority of his infrastructure investing career (12 + years) as a Managing Director & Head of the Americas Region for Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners (“MSIP”), a global, $ 16 billion diversified Infrastructure investment platform. His responsibilities in leading the regional investment team included developing investment strategy, sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities, managing assets, implementing operational improvement plans, and overseeing exit processes. John was a Senior Advisor to MSIP following his tenure as regional head.
Prior to Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners, John was a Managing Director in Lehman Brothers’ Private Equity Division, where he sourced, evaluated, and managed investments. Before joining the Private Equity Division, he spent 10 years as the Global Head of Project Finance. He managed a broad-based global infrastructure debt finance practice, focusing on underwritten capital markets bond and B Loan transactions, primarily in the power, energy, and transportation sectors.
John has previously worked for Salomon Brothers in its Fixed Income Division/Structured & Project Finance, and practiced as an attorney with Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom in New York City, and the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C.
John has held several Board of Directors positions throughout his career, including sitting on the boards of Hoegh LNG Partners LP (Chairman), Bayonne Energy Center, Brazos Midstream, Red Oak Power, Eureka Midstream, Hornet Midstream, Medical Area Total Energy Plant, Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, Chicago Parking Meters, and Skypower Global.
John earned his JD, cum laude, from Boston University School of Law and a BS in Accounting, magna cum laude, from Lehigh University. He is a member of the New York State Bar. John and his wife, Susan Kirby-Veech, have two adult children, Jack and Caitlin, and a dog, Ruby. John enjoys investing, boating, and traveling. He plays golf poorly.
